A Walking and Social Group for those who love the Outdoors
Welcome to the Footloose Walking Group
We are a small friendly group of people who walk in the Lake District in Cumbria. Although we began in 1999 as a singles walking group, we are now a mix of singles and couples – is this the test of a successful singles group? All are now welcome, singles, couples, or just independent.
We walk on Sundays throughout the year and some midweek evenings from April to September. We also have an occasional weekend away and holidays abroad. Check out our programme and join us on a Sunday or a Tuesday.
We endeavour to provide a mix of easier walks (7-8 miles) and harder walks, in which ascents, descents and mileage provide the grading.
Guest walkers who are interested in giving us a try are welcome to come along for up to three walks, before committing themselves to joining the club. Take a look at our planned walks on the menu bar.

We all hope that an emergency situation will never arise while walking on the fells. However, it is best to be prepared for these unlikely events. See Tips to Help in an Emergency for advice on what to do (and how to be prepared) for this. Several Footloose members are trained in first-aid, particularly relating to potential risks while fell walking.
